Applied Technology for Steam Turbines.

With nearly 100 years of experience in steam turbines and the core disciplines necessary to reverse engineer and manufacture components for almost any turbine design, Dresser-Rand offers you Applied Technology Engineered Solutions for steam turbines.

Our superior engineering and technical capabilities, combined with our world class manufacturing experience, allow us to offer the same advanced technology used in new equipment we design and build, and apply it to all makes and models of installed steam turbines.

Applied Technology Engineered Solutions

Dresser-Rand's Applied Technology solutions can reverse-engineer steam path components and provide in-kind replacements for rotating and stationary steam path parts, including blades and diaphragms.

Using our extensive engineering core technology resources, we review your conditions of service and rerate or revamp your equipment accordingly to accommodate changes in power, speed, or steam conditions and provide you with improved equipment efficiency.

Dresser-Rand Controls Services performs state-of-the-art upgrades to improve the reliability, control, and maintenance of your turbine control system. We will evaluate your equipment unit to determine suitability for reapplication into a different service.

Reverse Engineering Process

Dresser-Rand uses a single point of contact to provide an interface between you and our engineering and manufacturing staff to determine your project definition and schedule requirements.

We use our extensive core analysis disciplines to develop a preliminary evaluation of the required manufacturing process, critical features, tolerances, installation, scope of supply, materials and tooling, and coating requirements for your specific project. These core analysis disciplines include:

  • Aerodynamics
  • Stress and vibration
  • Metallurgy
  • Design and drafting
  • Manufacturing and process engineering

Using our latest 3D technology, we digitize the components, then perform a part-to-model inspection to verify the process. The model is reviewed so we can develop a manufacturing plan that will include material definition, lead times, costs, and a quality plan for the specific project. The final step in the reverse engineering process is to provide a detailed proposal.
