On ISOPAC compressors from 2,000 to 20,000 cfm, the engineers at Dresser-Rand have replaced the current investment-cast, radially bladed impeller with a new five-axis machined, backswept design. In testing, the rebuilt ISOPAC compressor units have achieved operating efficiency levels in the 80% to 85% range, comparable to today's new machines.
